Buckinghamshire Bird Club

Excellent county bird club, which produces a monthly Bulletin and the Buckinghamshire Bird Report. Regular field trips are organised for members, both near and far, and even weekends to interesting bird hotspots such as Gibraltar Point are also part of the birdwatching calendar.

The Birds of Buckinghamshire

This first-class book was published in 1993 and was edited by Peter Lack and David Ferguson. It contains a useful resume of all the birds that have been reported within the county, but also has interesting introductory chapters about habitats, breeding losses/gains, and the garden bird survey. Quite rightly it was highly recommended by British Birds - a must for all birdwatchers with an interest in their local avifauna.

Birds Around Milton Keynes

A useful guide now in its second edition produced by the local RSPB group, edited by Bob and Trisha Tunnicliffe. Full of useful local information, it has inspired me to visit several sites in the area.
